Once the new Modesto "Trainee" graduates from the "Fire Academy" at the Regional Fire Training Center" he/she becomes a "Probationary Firefighter".
As a probationary Firefighter, an employee will have one year to prove themselves.
This Probationary year is filled with countless hours of studying and testing. The "Probie" studies reference material and practices skills that they must know and must successfully demonstrate in their quarterly written and practical exams. At the end of the Probationary year the "Probie" receives State of California Firefighter I and II certifications and is proudly called a "Modesto Firefighter".
