On Saturday, September 16, members of Modesto Fire Department joined with Save Mart Stores, Prudential Reality, and a host of other agencies from within the City and County to sponsor an Emergency Preparedness Fair.  The event, which began at 10 a.m., highlighted the importance of preparing for a potential disaster.  Fire Chief Miguel and Police Chief Wasden gave opening remarks. 

Throughout the day, various activities including how to use a fire extinguisher, tours of the fire safety trailer, and a canine demonstration took place.  The approximately 3,000 citizens who attended the event had the opportunity to purchase safety backpacks and to collect safety literature from the various booths.  The Modesto Fire Department Explorers assisted with the event and cooked hotdogs for the public.  All involved agreed that this event was a huge success.
